Bringing the Heat with Fire Pits

When it comes to outdoor gatherings, there are many ways to have a great time. Some of us love a backyard barbeque, whether cheap hot dogs or expensive steaks. For many, it's a pool party or drinks on the terrace, and others will take just about any excuse to sit outside and enjoy a warm evening with cool friends. But there's one nearly universal thing about outdoor gatherings: everyone loves a fire pit! It's no surprise that this hardscaping feature is among our most requested and popular installations. And with that nearly unanimous appeal and dozens of positive advantages, you may not need an excuse to get your own pit.But in case you're on the fence about adding a pit to your Round Rock yard, here is some of what we think makes them so special.

Fire Good!

Perhaps it's ingrained in our species' history, but the fire seems to fascinate us to this day, even though we have built impressive shelters with indoor heat and cooking! Even with hundreds of channels of tv entertainment and a streaming backlog that can feel intimidating at times, we're still mesmerized by flickering flames.Of course, for you, that means an excellent center[iece for your outdoor living space! Even on a warm evening, the fire creates a central focal point where everyone wants to gather.

Chilly Night? That's Alright!

One of the nice things about fire pits is the inherent ability of fire to keep us warm. Here in Texas, our nights can still get a little chilly even when the days are warm. So fire is the perfect antidote and will keep your party going.

Light and Ambiance

Most of us work during the day, which means most social interaction will be in the evenings. If you want to use your outdoor living space to entertain, that can be difficult after dark. But, of course, the combination of fire and well-done outdoor lighting can create the ambiance you need to have your party go until you're ready for it to end.

Less Buggy!

With the notable exception of moths, most bugs don't like fire. Most relevantly, this applies to the most dangerous animal on earth - the mosquito, which is the only thing that kills more people than people. So fire (or, more accurately, smoke) keeps them at bay, which is a tangential benefit for your pit.

Extend the Love

While most outdoor entertaining happens in the summer, when you love your backyard, you don't want only to use it for a few months of the year! And the right outdoor space setup can allow you to extend that season earlier into the Spring and later into the Fall. With Fire warming and lighting your guests, there's no reason to limit garden parties to June - September!

Cooking? Why Not?

Depending on the nature of your particular fire pit, you may be able to use it for cooking. Many pits have grates that allow you to convert your pit into a cooking surface! Of course, you can choose instead to use yours as a gathering place and instead build in a new grill or outdoor kitchen (but even then, you may still want to roast some marshmallows).

Both have pros and cons, so the question will be which is right for you.
